What do you think of this form of teaching?

I think your idea is very innovative and a possible break-through for those students who struggle with math. Approaching the subject from the point of view of the mathematician and knowing something about that person's life and motivations might inspire our present day students to try harder to understand the mathematical concepts. In fact, visualizing the person behind a theorem or construct might make the math more palatable and relevant.
