Which is safer, Jerusalem, Haifa or Tel Aviv?

I'm choosing which university I want to go to and three options are in Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel Aviv. My family is really concerned about me, as a British-American, moving to Israel. I know none of these cities are 'safe', but I don't see them as much different than Chicago or South London. Any input?
